The purpose of this page is to demonstrate how to boot a Sun 3/50 "diskless" workstation, over a network cable, from a Linux Workstation.

The procedures described below have been succesfully tested a number of times. On our last test, the Linux (host) box had a NE2000 compatible network card, and Redhat Linux.

The procedure is split into 2 documents:

1. The primary document, explaining the procedure from start to end.

2. The additions document, discussing corrections, additions or clarifications to the primary document

We reccommend that you follow both documents closely step-by-step, to achieve success.
